SYMPOSIUM 2027
INTERNATIONAL ACADEMIC SYMPOSIUM 2027

Organized by the Slovenian Logistics Association (SLA), this Academic Symposium is a premier event dedicated to fostering connections between logistics academia and industry.

The symposium is intended for academics, researchers, industry professionals, and students with an interest in logistics. Its primary goal is to strengthen collaboration between research and practice by providing a platform for the exchange of scholarly insights, research findings, innovative ideas, and practical experiences. Through this dialogue, participants gain valuable opportunities for networking, academic engagement, knowledge sharing, and professional development.

The symposium will take place on 8 April 2027 in Portoroz, Slovenia, as part of the International Logistics Congress, which will be held on 7–8 April, expecting 800 attendees, from 30+ countires from logistics field.

Logistics Congress provides an unique opportunity for academic and professional exchange. Selected authors will have the opportunity to:

  • Present their research findings to an audience of logistics leaders, scholars, policymakers, and industry professionals.
  • Participate in engaging discussions on current challenges and developments in logistics.
  • Receive valuable feedback and establish collaborations with experts from academia and industry.
  • Contribute to shaping the future competitiveness, sustainability, and innovation capacity of European logistics.
  • Publish their work in the official SLA Academic Symposium Proceedings, which will be assigned an ISBN.
Evaluation Criteria
Submissions will be double blind reviewed by the SLA/ELA Scientific Committees International board of reviewers based on:
  • Originality and academic contribution
  • Relevance to the conference theme
  • Methodological rigor
  • Practical applicability and impact potential

Researchers whose abstracts are accepted will be invited to prepare an extended contribution following their congress presentation for possible inclusion in the new ELA scientific journal. These submissions will subsequently undergo an additional review by the journal’s board of reviewers.

  • Branka Leskovšek je zaposlena na Pošti Slovenije, kjer se ukvarja s trajnostnim razvojem in z vzpostavitvijo sistema izračuna ogljičnega odtisa podjetja po GHG protokolu. Ima dolgoletne izkušnje s strateškim načrtovanjem, energetsko učinkovitostjo ter izvedbo trajnostnih rešitev, kar ji omogoča celovit pristop k trajnostnemu poslovanju. Redno sodeluje tudi v različnih nacionalnih in mednarodnih projektih s področja trajnostne mobilnosti.
doc. dr. Blaž Luin 🇸🇮
  • Univerza v Ljubljani, Fakulteta za pomorstvo in promet
  • Blaž Luin je rojen 1981 v Ljubljani. Diplomiral je leta 2005 na Fakulteti za Elektrotehniko v Ljubljani, na smeri Avtomatika – Kibernetika v medicini. Zatem je na isti fakulteti nadaljeval magistrski študij. Od leta 2007 je zaposlen kot na najbolj dislocirani fakulteti Univerze v Ljubljani, na Fakulteti za pomorstvo in promet, kjer je leta 2012 zagovarjal doktorsko delo z naslovom Optimizacija postopkov upravljanja cestnih predorov. V sklopu izdelave doktorske naloge in projekta, ki sta ga financirala ARRS in DARS je izdelal jedro simulatorja predora Šentvid, ki je namenjen usposabljanju operaterjev predora. Trenutno je docent na UL FPP. Pri svojem raziskovalnem delu se ukvarja z analizami tveganja, simulacijami prometa, porabe energije v prometu, prezračevanja in požarov v cestnih predorih itd … Sodeloval je pri izdelavi številnih študij in recenzijah analiz tveganja.
Dr. Sanja Bojić

Prof. dr. Sanja Bojić je izredna profesorica na Fakulteti za tehnične vede Univerze v Novem Sadu. Ima obsežno strokovno znanje na področju transportne logistike, vključno z optimizacijo oskrbovalne verige in optimalno lokacijo objektov ter intralogistike, s poudarkom na skladiščnih sistemih in opremi za transport materiala. Poleg tega je specialistka za simulacije pretoka materiala z uporabo programa Tecnomatix Plant Simulation.

Z več kot 15-letnimi izkušnjami je prof. dr. Bojić vodila projekte in sodelovala kot strokovnjakinja pri več kot desetih projektih, ki jih je financirala EU, vključno z Danube DNA, PREMETER, DBS Gateway Region, NEWS, ADB Multimodal Platform, DaHar, WATERMODE in drugimi. Od leta 2023 vodi center DEAL (digitalno podjetje, laboratorij za aktivno učenje in usposabljanje) na Univerzi v Novem Sadu. Center je namenjen podpori podjetjem, študentom in strokovnjakom pri izobraževanju o digitalizaciji, digitalni preobrazbi in industriji 4.0.

Dr. Hugo Zupan je po nazivu direktor in raziskovalec po duši. Je vodilni strokovnjak na področju digitalnih dvojčkov in umetne inteligence v Sloveniji. Dr. Tjaša Zupančič Hartner je interdisciplinarna strokovnjakinja z več kot 20-letnimi izkušnjami na področju razvoja tehnologij in optimizacije procesov. Doktorirala je na Fakulteti za strojništvo Univerze v Mariboru in je zaposlena v podjetju GIC GRADNJE kot vodja trajnostnega razvoja in inovacij.

S timom sodelavcev postavlja nove standarde v industriji, saj vodi prelomne projekte digitalizacije v panogi:

– Prva pametna betonarna v Sloveniji, ki omogoča popolnoma digitalizirano proizvodnjo betona.

Vojko Rotar je po izobrazbi diplomirani ekonomist. Poklicno pot je začel leta 1995 v špediterskem podjetju Avico iz Ljubljane in v dejavnosti logistike ter kasneje mednarodne trgovine ostal do leta 2003, kjer je nabral vrsto izkušenj na področju delovanja pristanišča kot tranzitne točke, ki posreduje mednarodne blagovne tokove. Razumevanje splošnega gospodarskega okolja in delovanje subjektov znotraj njega so mu odprle pot do različnih del znotraj medijsko – komunikacijskega področja, kjer se je preizkusil kot urednik, novinar, dopisnik, fotoreporter in spletni poročevalec pri več slovenskih medijih. V koprskem javnem podjetju Marjetica je bil odgovoren za odnose z javnostmi in maketing, kjer se je približal številnim področjem, ki so povezana s spodbujanjem dobrih okoljskih praks in sodelovanjem z lokalno skupnostjo.

Dr. Tomislav Letnik is an Associate Professor of Traffic and Transportation Engineering at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering and Architecture, University of Maribor. Throughout his scientific and research career, he has participated in more than 30 national and international projects. His research primarily focuses on freight transport, transport economics, environmental and energy aspects of transport, and the optimization of transport and logistics processes. He is the author or co-author of numerous original scientific and professional articles and serves as an active reviewer for reputable scientific journals.

Prof. dr. Rebeka Kovačič Lukman 🇸🇮

Prof. Dr. Rebeka Kovačič Lukman is a professor at the Faculty of Logistics of the University of Maribor. She has led more than 25 international projects, and is a guest lecturer at foreign universities. She also serves on the editorial boards of scientific journals in logistics and the environment (e.g. Logforum, Logistics, Supply Chain, Sustainability, and Global Challenges) and is a member of international scientific association committees.

Mag.Gregor Rak, Director/Headmaster of the Maribor Traffic School, Higher Vocational College L.I.V.E., comes from an educational centre that offers higher vocational study programmes (Logistics Engineering, Computer Science and Informatics, Environmental Protection, and Economist). The centre also includes a driving school (all categories), which is one of the largest in the region. The school’s vision is to connect the school with the economy in an agile way.

Ines Pentek holds a master’s degree in traffic engineering and works as a project manager at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, and Architecture in Maribor. She is actively involved in international research projects in the field of sustainable mobility and logistics, such as GRETA, TRACE, and MED COLOURS. Her research focuses on horizontal collaboration among logistics companies and innovative approaches to urban logistics.

ENNA Logic is a logistics company founded in 2019. It offers a complete logistics service by providing multimodal customer solutions. Konstantinos Haniotis holds an MSc in Economics from London School of Economics. He started his career in 1985 as an Investment Banker.

She started her career as a young researcher at the Jožef Stefan Institute, where she studied the pumping properties of solid-state laser sources. After completing her Master’s degree in Physics, she worked at Fotona d.d. in the field of global marketing of medical lasers and development of their applications, while also completing a Master’s degree in Management and Organisation at the Faculty of Economics in Ljubljana. After that, she managed the International Cooperation Department at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia, which organised numerous activities and consultancies to support Slovenian companies in reaching new markets. Since 2006, she has been working at RIKO d.o.o., one of the leading Slovenian engineering companies. She manages the Intralogistics Systems Dpartment, which develops and implements specialised solutions in the field of automated warehouses and internal logistics.

Mitja joined Hella Saturnus Slovenia in 2009. At the beginning of his career, he managed the warehouse for internal components (wip) and led a team of internal transport workers. After the reorganisation of the logistics department, he was given the opportunity to work as an internal logistics assistant. His main tasks were to optimise the internal logistics processes with a focus on material flow and storage space. He was also responsible for automation in logistics.

Due to his extensive experience, he was appointed logistics project manager for the construction of a new logistics centre and an automated high-bay warehouse. The main tasks in this project were planning, coordination, supervision of testing and final takeover.

Mitja joined Hella Saturnus Slovenia in 2009. At the beginning of his career, he managed the warehouse for internal components (wip) and led a team of internal transport workers. After the reorganisation of the logistics department, he was given the opportunity to work as an internal logistics assistant. His main tasks were to optimise the internal logistics processes with a focus on material flow and storage space. He was also responsible for automation in logistics.

Due to his extensive experience, he was appointed logistics project manager for the construction of a new logistics centre and an automated high-bay warehouse. The main tasks in this project were planning, coordination, supervision of testing and final takeover.

Christoph Ehrhardt has been working at Dachser for 17 years.

He trained as a forwarding agent at one of our branches in Hof and completed a bachelor’s degree in logistics management (B. Sc.).

After many years at the Hof branch, where he was responsible for employee training, projects and process optimization, he joined our head office in Kempten in 2018 in Corporate Research & Development, where he is responsible for the Trends and Technology Research department as Department Head.

Gregor Glušič, MBA 🇭🇷

Gregor Glušič has been a prominent figure in the logistics industry since 2005, dedicating 16 years to Maersk and serving as the Managing Director of the company in Slovenia from 2015 to 2021. Over the past two years, he has assumed the role of CEO at Enna Logic/Transport, the first and largest private railway operator in Croatia. Notably, Enna Logic is a co-investor, partnering with APMT, in the development of a new container terminal in Rijeka, slated to open next year. Throughout his career, Glušič has gained diverse experience in different countries and cultures, with a special passion for trade, which he considers the area closest to his heart.

He is the President of Dragon Maritime Group. Dragon Maritime represents Cosco Shipping in the Western Balkans. Cosco Shipping is the third largest shipping company in the world and connects the markets of Central and Eastern Europe intermodally with the world via its hub in Piraeus. The Dragon Maritime Group is part of Aegida Holding, of which he is president and co-owner. The group is based in Slovenia and operates in the fields of maritime transport, logistics, ports and inland terminals, with a focus on the Balkan region and Central Europe. The entire group employs more than 300 people and has an annual turnover of 280 million euros.

Nenad has accumulated extensive experience in transport and logistics management, spanning nearly three decades of dedicated service within the Milšped Group. Throughout various top management roles, he has overseen the group’s global presence and successfully expanded business areas, including automotive, intermodal, air, sea, and rail transport. Notably, he played a key role in advancing the integrated logistics solutions for e-commerce offered by M ONE, a Milšped Group company. Over the course of his career, Nenad has taken on responsibilities such as global distribution, Deputy CEO, and member of the Management Board, significantly elevating the company’s operations across all facets of logistics.

Melita Rozman Dacar 🇸🇮

Melita Rozman Dacar, M.A., is Director of Slovenian Railways – Freight Transport with 30 years of experience in rail logistics. Since 2013, she has successfully managed Slovenian Railways – Tovorni promet, one of the leading regional railway operators. She also serves as Chair of the Transport Management Committee of the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and as a member of the Management Committee of the Managers’ Section of the Managers’ Association. She regularly participates in various high-level business events in the region. She enjoys passing on her knowledge of all aspects of logistics, especially to promising young people. She is particularly focused on mentoring young female managers, especially in the field of logistics. In 2014, the Managers’ Association awarded her the Artemida Prize, which recognises leading female managers and honours their role in creating added value in the company they manage.

Nikola Balaban is a graduated electrical engineer and co-founder of Dispo Market, a start-up company, that focuses on optimising the space available in trucks. He is also a mentor and speaker at various technology events where he shares his knowledge and enthusiasm for new technologies.

Jure Ceglar has 15 years of experience in the transport sector, including 12 years as a dispatcher in international transport. He was one of the first users of the Atom web application. His main areas of work are currently sales management, advising, and supporting new customers.

Matej Oven is employed by T.L.Sirk d.o.o., where he gained 15 years of experience in the transport sector as a dispatcher and head of the transport office; he is now responsible for the implementation of new software solutions and process optimisation.

Dejan Petelin 🇸🇮

He is an AI expert and co-founder of Pareto AI, a company specializing in the development of AI solutions. He has been working in the field of AI for 15 years. He started his career as a researcher at the Jožef Štefan Institute, where he also earned his PhD, and has been focusing on implementing AI to improve the efficiency of business processes and user experience for 10 years. In the field of logistics, he has led the development of a series of ‘routing’ algorithms to improve the efficiency of supply chains.

Dr. Luka Bradeško is the CEO and the founder of Solvesall d.o.o., and a researcher at Institute »Jožef Stefan«, Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, managing projects on mobility and logistics.He obtained his PhD at Jožef Stefan International Postgraduate School, Ljubljana Slovenia with the topic of Knowledge Acquisition through Natural Language Conversation and Crowdsourcing. From 2008 to 2013 he worked as a principal software engineer for Cycorp Europe, which was at the time an EU branch of the American AI company Cyc Inc. From 2017 to 2019 he worked as a senior research engineer at Bloomberg L.P. in New York.
