ESG - Balancing between efficiency and sustainability in a globally networked industry
- 🇩🇪 prof. dr. Nicole Mau
- MAU Consulting
- Zeno D'Agostino, predsednik pristanišč Trst in Monfalcone
- Združenje evropskih morskih pristanišč, ESPO
The logistics industry is undergoing a profound transformation, with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) issues coming increasingly into focus. Sustainable supply chains, low-emission transport solutions, and fair working conditions are no longer optional measures but crucial competitive advantages. Companies that consistently integrate ESG criteria reap the benefits of cost savings, enhanced brand reputation, and greater regulatory certainty. However, the question remains: How can the balance between efficiency and sustainability be achieved in a globally interconnected industry? The answers to this question will have a decisive impact on the future of logistics.

HOW TO UPGRADE YOUR LOGISTICS PROCESSES WITH DIGITAL TWIN
- 10.15

Advanced use of digital twin knowledge in performing periodic maintenance inspections in concrete production (Best Practice Case)
- 🇸🇮 dr. Tjaša Zupančič Hartner, development manager
- GIC Gradnje d.o.o.
At GIC, we have developed and implemented a digital twin with our partner ArtRabel, which is changing the management of production and logistics in processes. By connecting IoT, XR, artificial intelligence and machine learning, we optimize processes, monitor resources and predict needs for optimizations, maintenance, etc. AI enables real-time data analysis, automated decision-making and optimization of transport routes. Interactive instructions in XR improve operator efficiency, which increases traceability, safety and sustainable use of resources, and allows us to quickly look into data and processes. Industry 5.0 combines humans and technology and enables intelligent management of processes/productions of the future.

SIBO - Interlogistics at a Higher Level: From Virtual Simulation to Optimal Execution (Best Practice Case)
- 🇸🇮 Jan Suhadolnik, CEO
- LEOSS AUTOMATION d.o.o.
- 🇸🇮 Dr. Hugo Zupan, CEO
- DIGITEH d.o.o.
With the digital twin, we have already fully simulated and optimized the internal logistics processes in the new production during the planning phase. We have created several solution variants, tested them virtually and compared them based on different “what-if” load scenarios. In this way, we have validated the design, identified bottlenecks and eliminated them in advance, while also determining the optimal design and capacity of the system. Based on the analysis, we have also changed the existing concept of internal logistics processes and adapted it for greater efficiency and flexibility.
The solution includes automated warehousing, robotic palletizing, material flow tracking, modular conveyors (roller and belt), vertical lifting units, an interphase warehouse with buffers, a double-stacker for assembling double pallets and an automatic wrapping system with the integration of SSCC marking.

ISKRAEMECO - Digital twin in use for digitalisation of data flows and improved use of Internet of Things (Best Practice Case)
The lecture will present the key achievements of the Digital Twin for Digital Lean project. The digital twin enables precise monitoring and optimization of manufacturing processes in real time, thereby increasing efficiency and reducing costs. As part of the Digital Twin for Digital Lean project, we have introduced advanced technologies such as robotics, automation, the Internet of Things (IoT), and artificial intelligence, which have significantly improved internal processes like production, warehousing, and logistics. The digital twin also enables better management of data flows, contributing to greater transparency and efficiency across the entire supply chain.

GAVRILOVIČ - Intergration ALISA AI and use of digital twin for signicificant optimisation of supply chain and optimal use of robotics and automatisation processes (Best Practice Case)
- 🇷🇸 Božidara Cvetković, AI Team lead
- BE-terna
ALISA AI was developed to transform inventory management, demand forecasting, and production planning. To optimize production planning, ALISA creates a digital twin of employees, machines, and work processes that accurately mirrors real operations. By using the digital twin in production, it is possible to simulate various production scenarios, proactively identify bottlenecks, and dynamically optimize planning. Supported by artificial intelligence, the digital twin technology enables ALISA to provide manufacturers with a smart and adaptable production solution that enhances decision-making, optimizes workflows, and promotes continuous process improvement. The result is greater efficiency, lower operating costs, and improved on-time production, transforming manufacturing into an agile ecosystem designed for the future.
